About Me!

Siyu Dong also can be called Vicky. Born in Hebei, China in 2000. In 2018, I entered one of Canada's art and design universities- NSCAD(Nova Scotia College of Art and Design) to study fine art and jewelry design. At the same time, I am deeply interested in art criticism and art therapy.

Photography, running, traveling are my biggest hobbies, because it allows me to release myself from my nervous state.  I also like nature walking aimlessly, because for me, the beauty created by nature is irreplaceable.

I am used to painting in my most relaxed state (unconscious painting), because I think that only in this way can I express the truest me through painting.
Finally, and most importantly, I love blue!

Biography

Siyu Dong entered NSCAD University in Nova Scotia, Canada in 2018 to study fine art and jewelry design. During her studies, she gradually developed a strong interest in photography, art therapy and art criticism, and is committed to healing the psychological and spiritual distress of others through art.

In order to get closer to the contemporary art scene, she returned to China in August 2020 and participated in art-related exhibitions in Hangzhou, Beijing and Tangshan City as an intern: In August 2020, she joined the Ultramontane Gallery of Contemporary Art in Hangzhou as an intern and assisted the curator in the exhibition planning; In November 2020, at the Beijing World Art Museum-Raphael’s Art in Beijing, she explained the art exhibition to the visitors; In early 2021, she returned to her hometown and took an internship at the national Tangshan Museum of Fine Arts. In the process she experienced the different charms of contemporary art, European Renaissance art and traditional Chinese ink painting, respectively, and these experiences have had a profound impact on her art making and her view of art.

Inspired by her Canadian study abroad and art internship experience, she gradually found her true self in art: she likes to use the abstract art form in painting to express the fluctuation of her inner emotions, and hopes that her paintings and jewelry pieces will have a positive impact on others.

The important thing is that she likes blue and wants to turn everything in the world blue.
