This week I put the "clouds" into a larger mold so that it would show up more clearly.
I also tried adding cotton to the resin after it had been sitting for four hours, and then the cotton successfully bonded to the surface of the resin to create a more realistic and three-dimensional "cloud".
I try to add other colors of color essence to the resin to find the color that is closer to the natural landscape in my work.
Sky:
I improved the shape of the "sky" containers - the joints of the last container were straight lines, which seemed a bit stiff, and this time I changed them to wavy lines to make the whole piece look more fluid.
Iceberg:
I tried to make the shape of the container as close as possible to the characteristics of the nature scene I wanted to create. So in the "Iceberg" container, the three smaller containers have irregular jagged edges, like the cracking of ice.
Starry sky:
I thought for a long time about how to express the characteristics of the starry sky, and finally decided to design the shape of the "starry sky" container based on the form of the "aurora borealis".
This time I tried two kinds of 3d printing materials, transparent resin and colored transparent resin. After comparison I found that the color transparent resin is not very permeable, and the resin with color in the container is easily disturbed by the color of the container outside, thus changing the color of the resin itself inside.
And I found that light transmission is very important for resin material, so the colorful transparent resin material has its own color, which makes the whole work look very dark.
So in the end I still choose transparent resin material to 3d print all the containers.
I agree these more organic lines connecting the stone and the resin windows makes a lot more sense. I think these finished brooches will look really wonderful together~ I imagine them like lakes or bodies of water that bump into each other. I’m curious about the scale- how tall is the iceberg brooch for example?
I think your cloud research is very successful, it makes me feel like a real cloud, incredible! I think it would be better if you deepen the blue of the background. Although sky blue and white clouds are a classic combination, it is because it is classic that many people will use this combination. If you change the purity of the colors and the contrast between them, there may be unexpected effects.
